Pia is a DPhil student on the Inorganic Materials for Advanced Manufacturing (IMAT) CDT programme who will be working on the development of stable wide-bandgap perovskites for silicon-based tandem solar cells in collaboration with the Noel group in the Oxford Physics Department. She graduated from the University of Bristol with an MSci in Chemistry, with a focus in materials chemistry. For her master’s research, she investigated the synthesis and characterisation of acid-degradable bio-based thermosets for use in advanced fibre reinforced composites by incorporating pH-sensitive dynamic covalent bonds into the thermoset structure. Additionally, she spent some time working in the Ion Conducting Membrane group at Johnson Matthey investigating a range of organometallic additives to reduce membrane chemical degradation and working on developing new ion conducting polymers. Outside of the lab, she loves to swim, travel, read and keep fit.
