Juan earned a double Bachelor's degree in Electronics and Mechanical Engineering, with a minor in German culture and language from Universidad de los Andes, Colombia, in 2024. Throughout his studies, Juan led a subteam part of the "Robocol" student investigation group. He oversaw the development and operation of a 6-degree-of-freedom robot manipulator since 2020. His undergraduate theses focused on this manipulator and its applications. The Electronic Engineering thesis involved creating a device to monitor and replicate human wrist rotation movements with the robot. The Mechanical Engineering thesis implemented trajectories used in manufacturing processes to the robotic arm, including for example laser cutting. He is a keen robotics and electronics enthusiast and his work supports the design, fabrication and development of advanced electromechanical set up experiments in our lab.
