Xiao completed his bachelor degree of Materials Science and Engineering at University of Science and Technology Beijing, China. He later attended Tsinghua University where he got his master's degree of Engineering. His master project was about preparation and characterization of Cu(In,Ga)Se2 solar cell. His DPhil project aims to develop the functional nanolayers for advanced field effect optoelectronic devices.
